MARDI GRAS Party - February 18th 6pm-9pm
Souper Bowl opens DIYC’s Social Season!DIYC’s 202 season opener, the Souper Bowl, was a winner. More than 75 people joined in the fun of the event, many donning the swag of their favorite college or NFL teams. Volunteer cooks offered a wide variety of delicious soups perfect for a chilly January evening--clam chowder, taco soup, split pea with ham, spicy curry, broccoli cheddar, chicken noodle, chicken noodle with mushrooms, tortilla soup, smoked Gouda roasted red pepper and tomato bisque, shrimp and corn chowder and Tuscan kale soup. Special thanks to our Souper cooks: Aline Rochefort, Dale Kirby, John and Martha Keet, Cindy Hammond, Lisa Talley, Peg Marty, Jane Uecke, Michelle Low and her mom June as well as the volunteers who supplemented the fare with fresh rolls, crackers and a boatload of desserts.
DIYC Visits Port Royal Sound Foundation
Last year, DIYC chose PRSF as our non-profit to support when we have fundraisers, and they are proving to be a valuable partner. On January 12, a group of DIYC members journeyed by car to the PRSF’s Maritime Center to hear a talk by a naturalist, learn about the center, have lunch and get to know the facilities and staff there. This was our first DIYC visit to the center.
